Gene: [04q21/IGJ] immunoglobulin, J linker protein for alpha/mu subunits; [JCH ]

FUN

This peptide links (with S-S bonds) the heavy subunits (alpha and mu) within the IgA dimer or IgM pentamer. It also modulates the convertion of membrane form of Ig into the secretory one. The locus should not to be confused with the J region between constant and variable areas of heavy and light subunits."

MOP

IGJ peptide contains 137 amino acid residues, sequence of them showing no homology with the multigene immunoglobulin family."

FAG

IGJ probes reveal, in EcoRI hydrolyzate of the genomic DNA, two independent fragments, 8 and 4.5 kb in length. Only the former contains the coding IGJ gene mapped in chromosome 4q. The other fragment seems to contain an IGJ-like sequence, which is probably located in chromosome 8 (see GEM:00.0/IGJL)."
