Gene: [17q/PTMS] parathymosin;

MOP

Parathymosin is a hormone-like peptide that is highly homologous to prothymosin alpha (GEM:02^/PTMA). Parathymosin is characterized by high content of dicarboxyamino acids, with a complete absence of aromatic and sulfur-containing amino acids. The gene is expressed predominantly in liver, kidney, and brain, i.e. in those organs where prothymosin alpha is hardly expressed."
