Gene: [19p133/IGHER2] immunoglobulin E Fc-receptor II (low-affinity; antigen CD23); atopy 4? (allergic asthma and hay fever, liability 4); [CD23A FCE2 ]

MOP

Two receptors for IgE Fc domain are identified: the high-affinity one (receptor 1, FCE1A) and the low-affinity one (receptor 2, FCE2). Receptor 1 is supposed to be formed by three subunits; for more details, see GEM:01q23/IGHER1A. The gene for receptor 2 is cloned, and its coding region is sequenced. The soluble form of the receptor has MM 43-45 kD. This protein shares homology with animal lectins."

FAG

The gene for alpha subunit is mapped to chr 1q (GEM:01q23/IGHER1A). On other genes, see GEM:01q23/IGHER1A."

PAT

MIM and HGM mention two other markers (besides IGHER1A locus) in connection with atopies (mainly bronchial asthma and hay fever or allergic rhinitis): GEM:11q13/IGER and GEM:13q14/IGHEE. Genetic and functional relationships between these markers remain unclear. It is possible that genes for receptor 1 subunits and for receptor 2 are related with those atopies, which clinical genetic heterogeneity was demonstrated previously with formal genetic methods. Therefore, the GEM catalogue has included at least four types of atopy liability."
