Gene: [08p21/BMP1] bone morphogenetic protein 1 (zinc metalloprotease?); procollagen C-proteinase; tolloid (Drosophila)-like;

FAG

[1] It is assumed that the human genome contains nine BMP genes accounting for the morphogenesis of bone tissue: GEM:08p21/BMP1, GEM:20p12/BMP2, GEM:04^/BMP3, GEM:14q2/BMP4, GEM:06^/BMP5, GEM:06^/BMP6, GEM:20^/BMP7, GEM:00.0/BMP8, and GEM:20q112/CDMP1(BMP9).
[2] In mammals a single BMP1 gene apparently encodes alternatively spliced transcripts not only for BMP1 but also for a longer protein with a domain structure identical to that of the Drosophila dorsal-ventral patterning gene product tolloid (Takahara-1995)."
